FAQs

WHERE CAN I FIND INFORMATION ABOUT THE CRUISE LINE?

Your on-board experience begins here.

WHAT DOES IT COST TO ATTEND CRUISE WITH A MISSION?

We do our best to keep costs low in order to make the trip more affordable for more people. View our Booking Information page for current rates.

I'M A LEADER, HOW DO I GET INVOLVED?

Cruise with a Mission is led mainly by young adults. You will have the opportunity to indicate your leadership gifts during the online registration process. Qualified leaders and Cruise with a Mission alumni will be given priority when determining leadership roles.

I AM A YOUNG ADULT WITH CHILDREN. MAY I BRING THEM?

Cruise with a Mission, including its worship programming, small groups, breakouts, and mission projects, is designed for young adults. Cruise with a Mission does not provide children’s programming on-board or at the missions sites. The cruise line typically has on-board options for children. Parents and legal guardians should contact the cruise line directly to make these arrangements, prior to boarding the ship. If children remain onboard at a port, Holland America requires at least one parent or legal guardian remain with the child for the duration of the time at port. Please note because of the types of projects, we ask that children not participate in the missions portion of the trip. Children will not be charged a registration fee and may purchase promotional items such as water bottle, t-shirt, etc. for a fee.

ARE THERE ANY REQUIREMENTS FOR YOUNG ADULTS UNDER THE AGE OF 21?

As required by Holland America, if you are under 21 you must room with someone over 21. If you are coming alone and are between the ages of 18 and 21, you will be paired with someone else from our group.

CAN I BOOK WITH ANOTHER COMPANY FOR THE SAME CRUISE?

If you want to be a part of Cruise with a Mission, you must book your trip through our Personal Cruise Consultant. We are limited to the amount of people we take on the trip and our numbers are based on those who book with our agent.

CAN I REGISTER AFTER THE REGISTRATION DEADLINE?

Yes, if there staterooms left on the ship. Note at this point the full cruise fare is due to the cruise line (no deposit) before a confirmation will be given. Your confirmation is dependent on stateroom availability. There may also be a late registration fee.

WHAT IS THE ATMOSPHERE EXPERIENCED ON THE CRUISE SHIP?

Our cruise company, Holland America, is a more upscale luxury cruise-line, which caters to the retired segment of the population. In other words, this is not a “party ship,” although you will have fun. We found the atmosphere to be very conducive to spiritual reflection and positive social engagement.

WHAT IS THE DRESS CODE?

The cruise company has certain dress codes we must follow. For regular meals, they require shirt and shoes. Walking through the carpeted hallways or dining areas in only a bathing suit is strongly discouraged (bring covering). Also, our attire for the evening meal will fluctuate between casual, informal, and formal. For the two formal nights, gentleman must wear a jacket and tie to be admitted. Ladies generally wear formal dresses or pants suits.

CAN ARRANGEMENTS BE MADE FOR SPECIAL DIETARY NEEDS?

Yes. There will be lacto-ovo vegetarian and vegan menus with many tasty options available. Also, special arrangements can be made ahead of time for unique needs (allergies, etc). Let our Personal Cruise Consultant know of your request or you can indicate your request during online registration.

WHAT TRAVEL DOCUMENTS DO I NEED?

For U.S. citizens, a passport is always recommended. For most cruises leaving from a U.S. port city (Seattle, Ft. Lauderdale, etc.) a passport that does not expire within six months of the trip is accepted. Alternatively you may bring your valid U.S. driver’s license, or state-issued photo ID and a certified copy of your birth certificate. All trips require your boarding pass which you receive when you check in. If you are not a United States citizen, it is also your responsibility to obtain any necessary visas for port stopovers. For more details visit Holland America’s website.

HOW IS CRUISE WITH A MISSION FUNDED?

Registration fees help pay for our mission site projects, which includes any supplies needed. It also helps to pay for administrative costs such as marketing and group registration fees. If you would like to help defer some of the costs of Cruise with a Mission and keep registration rates low, please visit our support page. Support CWM

WHAT IF I NEED TO CANCEL MY BOOKING?

IF THE CRUISE GETS CANCELED, WILL I BE REFUNDED THE MISSION FEE?

Yes, the mission fee would be refunded.
