In October 2008, The Center for Youth Evangelism sponsored its first annual symposium addressing issues facing youth and young adults in the Seventh-day Adventist Church as well as the wider Christian community.

Our tag line “Beyond the Urgent” relates to our desire to move forward together in a prayerful, contemplative way making sure we take time to think about the things that really matter rather than those that loudly demand our attention.

The Center for Youth Evangelism is ideally positioned at Andrews University (Berrien Springs, Michigan) to gather the best and most forward-thinking academic research in youth ministry. We believe the exchange of research and well-considered ideas will foster dialogue and creativity giving new vibrancy to those involved in youth ministry.

The success of this symposium, like anything else, rests with the talented participants who serve our church. These participants will vary year by year. Each year participants will present research materials and ideas that will also be published as part of a bound book on the topic that year.
