Missions Report

Screen Shot 2020 04 23 at 2.41.58 PMOn September 15, 2013, 43 young adults from across the country joined together for a new adventure; Cruise with a Mission – Alaska! Although the needs in Alaska may be more “hidden,” the needs are still there. With the beauty of God’s creative design surrounding us, cruisers were reminded that He is much bigger and more powerful than anything man can create.

Mission port stops were to include Juneau, Sitka, and Ketchikan, Alaska. Poor weather conditions prevented stops in Sitka and Ketchikan, but our quick-thinking missions team was able to find mission projects in our final port of call, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.

Juneau, Alaska missions included projects at the local Seventh-day Adventist church and school. The church, located just outside of Juneau, received a new coat of paint in its stairwell, basement hallway, 2 classrooms, and fellowship hall. The school’s gymnasium floor was shampooed, some walls received a new coat of paint, and student computers were repaired by some IT professionals who attended the trip.

Due to the schedule changes we had a full day of mission work in Victoria. Working with the local Seventh-day Adventist pastor (who has previously attended Cruise with a Mission), we were able to assist Victoria’s Salvation Army story by organizing items on shelves, folding clothes, and passing out flyers advertising the store. Our assistance saved weeks, possibly months of work for the local volunteers. Another group visited the local SDA church and helped prepare ingredients for an upcoming chili feed for the community. The fnial group visited a local thrift shop and helped organize a month’s worth of donations.

We currently are continuing communication with the Juneau SDA School to raise $4,000 towards the installation of new playground equipment, donated to the school in 2005. To help us reach our goal, contact us.
